Portage Park Lifestyle Couples Session With The Most Adorable Dog [Chicago, IL]

I’m going to preface this blog post with a warning that this may make you want to adopt a rescue pup.

Lifestyle session with a cute couple and their adorable dog? Yes, please! I met Mindy and Alex at their lovely home in the Portage Park neighborhood of Chicago for a fall session recently. We took some photos on their front porch with their Mr. Personality (Elliot!) and then headed to the back yard where Elliot ran and ran and ran in the leaves, playing games with his humans. He LOVES playing with Alex and he never leaves Mindy’s side. I think they’re all so lucky to have one another, especially this year. After playing outside, we went inside for some beers and doggy snugs for a few minutes. Elliot enjoyed his perch on the couch while his mom and dad enjoyed their beers. I love sessions like these sooooooo very much!

After their session, we all had a beer outside, in masks, on the most perfect fall evening in Chicago. Here’s to clients that turn friends, good beer and 70 degree fall evenings.

Mr. Elliot now has a furever spot in my heart and I love him so much. This may happen to you also. While we can’t have him, there are so many other pups searching for their forever homes. Adopt a rescue. If you need a Chicago recommendation, Alive is wonderful!

50 Year Anniversary Session in Chicago - Art Institute

Ted and Jane were in town from Florida celebrating their 50th anniversary recently. We took some photos in Roscoe Village and then headed to the Chicago Art Institute Gardens for a few more photos. I love the photos of the two of them laughing together so much. It makes my heart dance! 50 years, and still making each other laugh, is such an accomplishment. I love love, and I love that I get to document such amazing moments.

Chicago Snow Globe Engagement Session

You may remember LeaAnne & Raj from this summer when we took some photos in their Streeterville home. I'm back to let you know they're OFFICIALLY engaged and in the midst of planning their wedding! The two weekends prior to their engagement session, it snowed like crazy in Chicago. One of those weekends was a monster storm that shut down the city and I was out of town and sadly missed it all. However, I thought that since there was over a foot of snow on the ground we would for sure at least have a little blanket for LeaAnne & Raj so it didn't look so muddy out. Boy, was I wrong! The Friday before we were supposed to shoot, ALL of that snow was gone and I was heartbroken. ALL I had wanted for their session was snow. Fast forward to Saturday morning and me checking the weather the second my eyes opened. Miraculously there was a chance for some snow showers later that afternoon. I hoped and prayed all day and then 2pm came and the snow the hourly forecast predicted was nowhere to be found. An hour later, though, it started ever so quietly and by the time our session started at 4:30 we were COVERED in white, wet snow and it was magical. One of my most favorite sessions ever and L & R were fantastic.

I have always loved sessions in winter, but my first "active snowfall" engagement session was unforgettable and I am so thankful that it worked out so perfectly.

Much love, friends!
